Thoughts on this episode:

SPOILER ALERT

First of all, I was fairly surprised by Mako’s immediate acceptance of financial aid from the Sato family. I assumed that because of his upbringing, he’d be too proud to accept any kind of help from anyone other than Bolin, especially after declining Korra’s offer at first to help find Bolin. I am pleased with this development.

I was also happy to see some Korra-Bolin only moments, but that’s just my bias towards Borra. >_> I love the continuity though, where Bolin shows his gratitude for saving him in the last episode. A lot of cartoons don’t generally connect episodes like that and I’m happy to see it in LoK. As for the Masami development, I’m just waiting to see where it goes. I have no qualms with it (another Borra bias hah). 

Onto the topic of Asami herself. I am very glad to see her personality the way it is. Generally, wealthy young females are portrayed as spoiled and mean-spirited. Asami’s kind nature is a fantastic change of pace.

While on the topic of personalities, we have…Tarrlok. Yeah…I think I prefer Amon to this political douchebag. The way he manipulates Korra into furthering his plans is just disgusting. When she was ambushed by the reporters, I was hoping for Bolin, Mako, or Tenzin to step into defend her…but nope. 

Some may argue that Korra should’ve handled herself better in these situations, but thing is, she was terrified! I mean, come on, her ability to bend is a great part of who she is and the fact that someone out there exists with the ability to take that away from her— to take away part of her identity is pretty scary. The proud person that Korra is would want nothing more than to prove to others and more importantly, herself, that she can overcome her fear. Also, she was pretty much sheltered from “the big city and its issues”, leads to her lack of knowledge in how to handle said issues, effectively.
